The Youth Empowerment Projects began in Gokwe District in 2011, then moved into Matabeleland North and, more recently, Bulawayo. The aim is learning support in every province, and sustainable livelihoods projects that pay for the education of children in difficult economic circumstances.

Learning support for schools

Trinity coordinates research that gives teachers instructional aids and current case studies in each learning area, with e-libraries and mobile libraries to carry them further. Teachers plan better interventions, less confident learners are reached, and pass rates rise.

Sustainable livelihoods projects

In households facing food insecurity, self-help projects raise family income and put nutritious food on the table. The proceeds pay for the education of learners who would otherwise drop out.

Since 2011 Trinity's field studies, classroom observations, teacher consultations and learner assessments have looked for the barriers to learning in under-resourced schools. The Research Unit turns what it finds into materials, and into evidence for policy and practice.

Society, environment, economy

The unit's work follows the three pillars of sustainable development: the learner's community, the environment around the school, and the economy that decides whether children stay in class.

Recognition

In 2016 the Matabeleland North Provincial Education Office thanked the founder for Geography materials made from local resources in line with ZimAsset, and pledged support for further research in field studies and observations.

Fellowship meeting times and venues

The World Regional Crises platform examines, analyses and addresses major disasters and crises affecting communities across the globe. Through research, dialogue and collaboration it proposes practical, sustainable solutions to conflict, climate change, displacement, poverty and other regional problems.

Its goal is to equip leaders, policymakers, educators and communities with insights and strategies that promote resilience, humanitarian service and regional development.

Learning continuity is humanitarian work

During social and economic stress, keeping children learning becomes a humanitarian priority. Trinity gives vulnerable learners psychosocial and material help alongside academic support, so that no child is left behind.

Dialogue on Social Dynamics gives people a place to talk openly about love, relationships, family conflict and personal struggles, and gives communities a way to face social problems before they escalate.

• Mental and emotional health. Talking through social pressure, heartbreak, gender roles and stress reduces isolation and helps healing

• Bridging urban and rural gaps. How migration, technology and changing values affect families differently in cities and villages
